“The Kelowna affiliate of HFH Canada was speedily formed and the Hansens, after a series of interviews, were selected as the recipients of the first house.” Construction began in the summer of 1993. Kelowna's first house project was completed with 90 percent of materials donated, which set a Canadian record for a Habitat build.

Habitat for Humanity Kelowna was founded twenty years ago. The vision began in December 1991 when then City Councillor Marion Bremner called a handful of people together to consider if a Habitat affiliate could come to Kelowna. She was excited about "the idea of a community getting together with a solution, as opposed to looking to government."
Bremner later recalled her astonishment when 60 to 70 people came out to one of the first organizing meetings.

HFH Kelowna to tithe to HaitiFriday, January 13th, 2012
On the second anniversary of the devastating Haiti earthquake, the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Kelowna has decided to send their annual tithe for overseas work to Habitat for Humanity in Haiti. The contribution from Kelowna will be matched three-to-one by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
HFH Kelowna contributes ten percent of all unrestricted donations to help Habitat for Humanity International.

Habitat for Humanity Kelowna is very pleased to announce that it has been awarded a ten thousand dollar grant from the Royal Bank of Canada Foundation. The monies will be used toward the current Phase Two Elk Road on the Westside. Currently being built by Okanagan College residential construction students, the finished duplex will be sold to low-income families.
